Finally, the balloon burst, fortunately from a height of only about 30 feet. The camera attached to the frame indirectly through the motor drive, so it was spared most of the impact (the motor drive was destroyed, however). I removed the camera from the destroyed crash box, brushed the playa dust off it, and shot a few more pictures.
